We’re delighted to see GRID named a Finalist in NCE Bridges Awards with Brentford Lock West Bridge, now in the running for Active travel project of the year!
Delivered with Hewson Consulting, MUSE Places and The Canal & River Trust, this bold new crossing spans the Grand Union Canal – linking communities, unlocking green space, and celebrating the area’s industrial heritage.
Praised by the community and local council, it’s more than a crossing. The bridge forms a key part of Brentford’s regeneration, promoting active travel and reconnecting people with the canal and each other.
The elegant Vierendeel steel truss structure combines beauty, functionality and cost-efficiency. With its sweeping form, bright red deck and stainless-steel balustrades, the bridge enhances the canal landscape and draws people in – encouraging movement, connection and interaction.
We’ve got our fingers crossed for GRID! See the full 2025 shortlist here.
