We are delighted to share that GRID Architects and Interiors are in the AJ with Snow Hill Wharf, located in Birmingham’s historic Gun Quarter – once the centre of the world’s gun manufacturing industry.
Following its 20th Century decline, the Gun Quarter was cut off from the city centre as a large swathe of buildings were demolished by post-war town planners to create the city centre ring road.
GRID transformed this neglected brownfield site into a vibrant canalside community, delivering 404 homes across five interconnected buildings, designed to reflect the area’s industrial heritage while creating a welcoming and active public realm.
With its bold architecture and thoughtful placemaking, Snow Hill Wharf sets a new benchmark for regeneration in this part of Birmingham, acting as a catalyst for future development.
