10 George Street provides 327 homes, new retail spaces and shared amenities for residents. The building’s podium and tower are two distinct elements with the podium helping to create a legible human scale facing onto the pavement and the water’s edge. Fronting onto Canary Wharf’s South Dock, GRID’s design has a strong urban presence suited to the prominent location.
The elevation is given formal cohesion through the simple concept of ‘punched holes’ clad in dark bronzed metals. The ribbon-like wave motif applied across the scheme adds variety, with a large hand-set stone element adjacent to the entrance, and at upper levels, protruding balconies have been designed with a singular continuous metal fascia emphasising the additive construction and uniting the east and western facades.
